ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) — On a sunny Friday afternoon in Ithaca, the ribbon was officially cut on the Black Diamond Trail bridge.

According to the city’s website, the bridge “enhances the connection between the City’s West Hill area and the Southwest commercial area, as well as the Cherry Street Industrial Park.”

Mayor Robert Cantelmo tells WHCU it’s about creating easier access.

Cantelmo adds the bridge near Wegmans is a boost for connectivity.

The bridge goes over the flood control channel near the intersection of Cherry Street and Cecil A. Malone Drive. Funding for the bridge came partly from the American Rescue Plan Act and the Federal Highway Administration.
