CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) – A new medical service in Cortland.

Guthrie Cortland Medical Center recently unveiled their brand-new interventional radiology suite. It uses minimally invasive imaging, such as ultrasound, CT scanning and fluoroscopy, to provide guidance in diagnosing and treating various conditions.

The new suite is used for:

  • biopsies
  • thoracentesis
  • paracentesis
  • various urology and GI procedures
  • central venous access devices – tunneled catheters, ports and PICC lines, therapeutic exams
  • vertebroplasty
  • various types of drains

Officials say the suite, already in use, provides space for more procedures and a better experience for patients.

“We are proud of the new interventional radiology suite at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center,” said Interventional Radiologist Dr. Peter O’Halloran. “And we are happy to offer minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to the community.”
