ITHACA, NY (WHCU) — The National Weather Service is extending a heat advisory.

Heat index values between 95 and 100 are expected across the Southern Tier until tomorrow night. The heat advisory, which was scheduled to end at eight o’clock tonight, has been extended 24 hours as the heat and humidity continues through the last day of the work week.

Forecasters say cooler temperatures and lower humidity are likely this weekend.
