CORTLAND, NY (WHCU) – Crucial renovations are coming to the Lime Hollow Nature Center in Cortland.
State Senator Lea Webb visited Cortland on May 31 to officially announce $250,000 in state funding headed to the center. She says it’s one of the perks of the job.
The money will help increase safety and sustainability in center buildings, including installing solar panel roofs. Lime Hollow Executive Director Ilya Shmulenson says the building improvements are vitally important.
It was a sentiment echoed by Forest Earl, President of the Lime Hollow Nature Center Board of Trustees.
“We are honored to receive this funding from Senator Webb,” said Earl. “This grant helps ensure that Lime Hollow will continue to be a vital part of the Central New York community and that future generations will have a place to enjoy and experience our natural world.”
“One of the things I appreciate about this nature center is that it’s accessible,” added Webb. “It’s affordable. It doesn’t matter what your income level is, or where you live. You have an opportunity to engage, not only with nature, but also connect with other members of the community.”
The Lime Hollow Nature Center celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2023.
