CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) – Guthrie Cortland Medical Center (GCMC) has new artwork in its café courtyard.
The mural, painted by artist and Cortland native Molly Reagan, was unveiled this week. It connects the story of the then-Cortland Hospital’s original opening in 1891 through its January 2019 affiliation with Guthrie, the opening of the Renzi Cancer Center, and a vision for the future.
“This is a bold, enduring picture of our commitment to deliver the comfort of a community hospital with the resources and investment of a large, integrated healthcare system,” said GCMC President Jennifer Yartym.
Hospital officials say the mural will serve as a centerpiece for visitors and caregivers and is the first step toward expanded hours and options at GCMC’s café.
Regan, an art teacher at St. Mary’s School in Cortland, has painted multiple murals in Cortland and The Sciencenter in Ithaca. You can check out her work here.
