WAVERLY, N.Y. (WHCU) – Waverly is conducting village-wide testing on its sanitary sewer system.
The Wastewater Treatment Plant is trying to find where ground or surface water is entering the sewer system. A non-toxic smoke will be blown into the system to help find leaks. Officials say the smoke does not affect plants or animals and leaves no residual odors or stains. Fixing the leaks could help reduce sanitary sewer flow volumes and operating costs.
The testing should wrap up at the end of the day on Wednesday.
