ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – A member of Ithaca’s Common Council is stepping down.
In a statement, Alderperson Jeffrey Barken announced he will resign his position in June, leaving a vacancy just a few months shy of the 2023 election. Every seat on Common Council and the Mayor’s Office will be on the ballot in November.
Barken, representing the Third Ward since 2022, is leaving Ithaca to pursue other interests.
