ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – The Ithaca City School District (ICSD) is now a member of the local School Food Reboot Program.
On November 2, ICSD announced it would join Lansing, Dryden, Groton, Newfield, and TST BOCES in the program.
A partnership between the Chef Ann and Park Foundations, the program replaces ultra-processed foods with school meals that use healthier, locally grown ingredients. The program enables joint purchasing from the participating districts, which gives farmers larger, predictable orders they can offer at bulk prices.
All six districts in the program are planning to launch a monthly initiative called Tompkins Tuesday, in which every participating school will serve the same locally sourced menu item.
