ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — A new minimum wage is being examined in Tompkins County.

It would differ from the state’s minimum wage, says Cornell researcher Ian Greer.

Greer spoke last week to the Tompkins County Housing and Economic Development Committee, which is exploring a potential countywide minimum wage.  Greer tells us the county’s current living wage of $18.45 is expected to rise.

Greer adds Tompkins County’s new living wage will likely be revealed in November.
