Tompkins County to purchase reusable bags for low income residents

ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — The Tompkins County Legislature approved buying reusable bags.

In a unanimous vote Tuesday, legislators agreed to fund the purchase of reusable bags for low-and fixed-income residents.

Money from the five-cent tax on paper bags, a law Tompkins County legislators adopted in 2019, is being used for the purchase.
