ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – The Ithaca City School District (ICSD) is officially celebrating a new recreational space.
On Oct. 8, ICSD officials will mark the completion of the Fall Creek Elementary School’s Playground with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Fall Creek students, Cornell students, teachers, and design professionals helped design the new playground, which was finished in time for the current school year.
“At Fall Creek, we work to make sure kids know that their ideas matter and that they have a real voice in their school, community, and lives,” said Fall Creek Principal Tara Caiza. “It has been incredibly powerful to watch kids play in space they helped imagine and create. So many experts came together to listen to our students and make their ideas come to life. Our new playground gives children a place to explore, take risks, be creative, connect with one another, and feel like they belong.”
The playground was approved as part of ICSD’s 2019 capital project. The celebration runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
