ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Several Cornell students are suspended.

Joel Malina, Cornell’s vice president for university relations, confirmed in a statement over the weekend that suspensions have already been handed out and more are likely.

Climate Justice Cornell, which submitted the event application which turned into a days-long protest in the Arts Quad, has also been suspended. Malina says the application was submitted under false pretenses.

Meanwhile, a group of Cornell protestors says the university has backed off from evicting some students. In a statement, the Coalition for Mutual Liberation says Cornell leaders agreed to reverse evictions of four students.

In addition, CML also says Cornell is opening talks over eight demands about divesting from companies linked to the Israeli military. A majority of Cornell undergrads who voted in a referendum last month were in favor of divestment.
