STATE COLLEGE, PENNSYLVANIA (WHCU) – Kyle Dake’s pursuit of Olympic gold will continue this summer in France.

The 33-year-old Lansing native and former Big Red wrestling standout punched his ticket to Paris on Saturday night, just 9 days after the death of his father, Doug, who passed away at age 62 after a brief illness.

“This is the first time I had to do this without him,” said Dake. “I just really miss him and wish he was here.”

It’s the second straight Olympic berth for Dake, who won the bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Games.

The Paris Games run from July 26 through August 11.
