ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Money is being raised to help after a plane crash.
Organizers of the GoFundMe page set a goal of $60,000 for the families of David Kornreich and Andrew Harrell. Both were killed Sunday in Enfield when Kornreich’s plane crashed shortly after liftoff in Ithaca.
“David and Andrew meant so much to the people around them, and their passing has left an enormous void in the lives of those who knew and loved them,” the fundraising page says. Kornreich was chief instructor of the East Hill Flying Club and Harrell was a certified flight instructor. It was Kornreich’s plane the two were in.
Kornreich was an adjunct professor at Ithaca College and Cornell, where he received his Ph.D. in 2001. Harrell, who lived in Cortland, was studying for his master’s degree in aviation sciences and aspired to become a commercial airline pilot.
Federal investigators are working on finding out what caused the crash.
