ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – We’re learning more about a fatal plane crash in Enfield.

One of the victims, David Kornreich, was an adjunct professor at Ithaca College and Cornell University, where he also earned his Ph.D. in 2001, according to the Cornell Daily Sun.

The 52-year-old was piloting the small aircraft on August 30 when it crashed on North Applegate Road. Kornreich was pronounced dead at the scene, and his passenger, 31-year-old Andrew Harrell of Cortland, later died at Cayuga Medical Center.

The Syracuse Post-Standard reports both men were instructors at the East Hill Flying Club in Ithaca. Harrell, who was scheduled to interview for a job with SkyWest Airlines today, was also studying for his master’s degree in aviation sciences to open up more job opportunities. He and his wife moved to the Crown City from Hawaii but were originally from California.

The crash remains under investigation by federal authorities.
