DRYDEN, NY (607NewsNow) – One person is hospitalized after a crash in Dryden.

On August 24, Tompkins County sheriff’s deputies and other agencies responded to an accident with injuries on Route 13 near Irish Settlement Road.

When crews arrived, they found an Isuzu delivery truck that had exited the roadway, and a Dodge Durango with a tow-behind trailer. The delivery truck driver, who has not yet been named, was found unconscious and trapped inside the vehicle.

He was extricated from the vehicle and airlifted to a regional trauma center for treatment.

Witnesses say the Isuzu was traveling east on Route 13 when the Durango’s trailer began to fishtail and crossed the center line, causing the collision. The delivery truck driver lost control, hit a guide rail, and went off the road before coming to rest in a group of trees.

According to the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, the trailer involved in the crash was found to have unsafe tires, no valid registration, and no current inspection certificate. The trailer, which was carrying a lawn mower, detached during the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
