CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) – The Cortland County SPCA (CCSPCA) is thanking a business for helping with a rescue.

The adoption center’s law enforcement division received a call on Tuesday from a Cortland County DSS worker who could see a cat stuck on an adjacent roof that had reportedly been there since Monday. At the time, the cat appeared to be unresponsive.

When CCSPCA investigators arrived, they quickly determined they could not get it down safely with their equipment. Carter’s Tree Service was contacted for assistance. They sent two trucks, and the animal was recovered safely.

The cat is healthy and will be held for five days to see if an owner can be located, after which it will be put up for adoption. Officials with the CCSPCA say the cat is black, adult, male, long-haired, and very friendly.

CCSPCA is accepting donations for Carter’s time and expenditures associated with the rescue.
