GENOA, N.Y. (WHCU) – There were no reported injuries, and a family pet is safe after a fire in Cayuga County.

The Genoa Volunteer Fire Department (GVFD) responded to a house fire on Myers Road around 11 p.m. on Tuesday. GVFD says downed power lines near the origin of the fire made putting the blaze out difficult.

Firefighters were able to enter the home and rescue a dog, which received medical treatment. GVFD was on-scene for nearly five hours.
