ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – A public service change is coming to Tompkins County.
Beginning June 23, the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office will no longer accept unused or unwanted medications.
In a Facebook post, Sheriff Derek Osborne says the change is due to circumstances beyond their control, and his office will still participate in federal drug takeback programs each year in the Spring and Fall.
In the meantime, residents can dispose of unwanted meds at pharmacies across the Ithaca area, as well as Cayuga Medical Center.
