ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Ithaca is encouraging city residents to sign up for Tompkins SIREN alerts.

The Department of Public Works will begin spring cleaning of streets next week, and the alert system is a good way to keep track of where street-sweepers will be. They’ll start Monday around Collegetown to coincide with spring break. Signs for streets to be cleaned will be posted 24 hours in advance. Any vehicles left in the designated areas will be ticketed and towed.
