ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Tompkins County Legislator Mike Sigler has picked up another endorsement for his state senate run.

The Ithaca Police Benevolent Association says Sigler’s support for law enforcement while calling for practical reform efforts earned him a unanimous vote from their union.

“When other politicians actively tried to tear down police or were silent, I couldn’t do that,” said Sigler. “I wouldn’t do that. These officers protect families, businesses, and yes, even people who have broken the law. It’s a hard job that deserves respect and a partnership with elected officials, not derision.”

Sigler, who is vying for the seat in the 52nd state Senate district against incumbent Lea Webb, received the endorsement of the Tompkins County Deputy Sheriff’s Association earlier this month.
