ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — There’s no need for alarm in Tompkins County.

According to Tompkins County Medical Director Dr. William Klepack, local risk is “extremely low” for the Andes hantavirus. The virus recently infected passengers on a luxury cruise ship.

“This is not another pandemic,” Klepack said.
