CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — Two people are charged after a crash in Cortland.

Police say 28-year-old Richard Stevens refused to pull over last Tuesday, May 5 and led officers on a chase through the city. Stevens eventually crashed into a utility pole at the intersection of Main St. and Huntington St., then fled on foot. He’s been charged with the following:

  • Resisting arrest
  • Fleeing a Police Officer in the Third Degree
  • Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the Second Degree
  • Leaving the scene of a property damage accident
  • Multiple traffic violations, including speeding, stop sign violations, lane violations, and equipment violations.

His passenger, 40-year-old Alicia Warren, was arrested after allegedly refusing orders from officers. During a search of the vehicle, police say they recovered drug paraphernalia. After securing a search warrant on locked bags, officers also recovered “additional packaging materials and drug-related items.” Police did not find any drugs.

Warren was charged with a single count of obstructing governmental administration. An unnamed passenger was taken to a hospital for evaluation after the crash.
