UPDATE 1/30 – Reports say the Elmira Police Department has identified the body as 47-year-old Melissa Swido. No other information has been shared. 

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WHCU) – An investigation is underway after a body was discovered in the City of Elmira.

Authorities were called around 10:30 on Monday morning to the south side of the city near East Hudson Street for a report of an unresponsive person by the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks. WENY-TV reports a 47-year-old woman was found near the shoulder of the train tracks. Her identity is not being released at this time.
