ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – An event to empower people to declutter and organize their homes is happening in Ithaca this weekend.

Carol Bushberg Real Estate and its namesake owner have been operating in the Ithaca area for years. Bushberg, a Cornell graduate, says her experiences selling homes have shown her that a common problem is people have too many things.

“Oftentimes when we go into people’s homes, whether they’re old or they’re young or in between, there is too much stuff,” says Bushberg.

Bushberg says whether people are dealing with their own belongings or a loved one’s, it can be overwhelming and a lot of work. That’s when she and her staff came up with an idea to connect the public with professionals who know what to do in those moments, and The Clutter Clinic was born.

Anyone looking to sell or who simply want to tidy up their homes is invited. Bushberg adds sometimes selling or cleaning a home can be so stressful that people can discard items that are valuable. Local appraisers and experts will also be at the event.

Bushberg says The Collector’s Corner isn’t just for people who are looking to sell their homes or tidy up. The public is welcome to bring any item they are curious about.

The Clutter Clinic is free and open to all. It will happen from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at 55 Hallwoods Road in Ithaca, opposite NYSEG at the intersection of Route 13 and Route 366. Look for signs.
