ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — The Cayuga Bird Club will start the new year by counting several types of species.
The annual Christmas Bird Count is happening in Ithaca on Monday. Area leader Josh Snodgrass says the west side of Cayuga Lake offers a variety of species, like ducks and hawks.
He adds the people involved make the event successful.
“We’ve had consistent returning volunteers, and new folks every year who come out and take an interest,” Snodgrass says.
The bird count has happened locally for over 60 years. For more information, click here.
