CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) — It was a parade of champions…on the interstate.

After the Red Dragons clinched their first national championship Friday night in Virginia, the team was met by state police on I-81 for an escort to the Homer exit. Cortland and Homer police and fire departments joined the celebration on the road, leading SUNY Cortland to their home stadium for another celebration.

The Red Dragons beat North Central College in Salem, Virginia, 38 to 37.

We’ll speak live with Cortland Mayor Scott Steve about the victory–and a bet he won–at 9:40 Monday on Ithaca’s Morning News.
