ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — An outgoing member of Ithaca’s Common Council is happy about an incoming new city leader.
Alderperson Cynthia Brock is optimistic about Ithaca’s switch to a style of government led by a city manager.
Chief of Staff Deb Mohlenhoff will become Ithaca’s first city manager on January 1. Meantime, the Ithaca Police Department is getting their first permanent chief since the spring of 2021. Thomas Kelly made a good first impression on Brock.
Earlier this month, the Common Council OK’d the selection of Kelly, who recently retired from the Schenectady Police Department. He’ll be sworn in Monday, December 18.
After 12 years, Brock leaves office December 31 after losing her re-election bid in November.
