CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) — Political leaders in Cortland County are reflecting on the general election.

The Board of Elections says the turnout was about 25 percent. Around 7,750 people voted in total.

There were several recounts, though no results changed. Among the closest races came in Cortland’s Fifth Ward – where Alderperson Seth Thompson retained his Common Council seat by six votes.

In related news, Cortland’s mayor says no arrests have been made since the anti-smoking law began.
