ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – A local company is set to mark a quarter century in business.

The Ithaca Beer Company will celebrate its 25th Anniversary next week on December 4. The business has grown by leaps and bounds since starting as a small microbrewery in 1988 by founder Dan Mitchell. Today, it boasts a brewery on a large farm just outside the City of Ithaca and another taproom location in Cornell’s Collegetown.

The company’s flagship beer, Flower Power IPA, is distributed in 15 states up and down the East Coast.  It was recognized as one of the “25 Most Important American Craft Beers Ever Brewed” by Food & Wine magazine.

The community is invited to join the celebration, which will feature live music, tours, beer tasting, and the exclusive release of an Anniversary 25 Barrel Aged Oyster Stout. It’s a collaboration with Simeon’s American Bistro and Black Button Distilling out of Rochester. The party will happen on Monday night from 7:30 to 10:30 at the brewery off Route 13A. Admission is $25.
