ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Another election cycle is over.
In Ithaca, Robert Cantelmo will become mayor in January.

As a reminder, Ithaca will have a city manager early next year. They will run day-to-day operations in the city, which means the mayor will have a vote at Common Council.
Every seat of the Ithaca Common Council was up from grabs in this election cycle.
In Ward One, Kayla Matos won a four-year team. The longtime incumbent Cynthia Brock wrote on Twitter that Matos will bring a ‘fresh perspective’ to City Hall.

Alderperson Phoebe Brown won a two-year term in a defeat of Zach Winn, the Republican. Brown previously said this would likely be her final term in office.
Both races in Ward Two of the Ithaca Common Council were uncontested. Alderperson Ducson Nguyen won in what he’s calling his last term while Alderperson Kris Haines-Sharp won a two-year term. She currently represents the Fifth Ward.
In Ward Three, David Shapiro ran unopposed for a term of four years while democrat Pierre Saint-Perez is the winner of a two-year seat. Jorge DeFendini and Tiffany Kumar are expected to retain their seats in the Fourth Ward. Over in the Fifth Ward, Margaret Fabrizio has an overwhelming majority for the four-year seat while independent candidate Jason Houghton appears to have won the
two-year seat.
All results will be certified by the Tompkins County Board of Elections next week after affidavit ballots are counted.
