ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – The Tompkins County Whole Health Department is alerting the community to a recall of a children’s food product.
WanaBana has voluntarily issued a recall of its apple cinnamon fruit puree pouches because they may contain unhealthy levels of lead. The recall applies to all lot codes and expiration dates. The products are available at a variety of national retailers including Amazon and Dollar Tree.

Health officials say any parent or caregiver of toddlers and young children who may have consumed the product should contact their child’s healthcare provider to get a blood test. Last week was National Lead Poisoning Prevention Awareness Week. The Cortland County Health Department recently revealed children in the county have higher concentrations of lead in their blood than the state average.
