HOMER, NY (607NewsNow) – A 23-year-old man is recovering after getting hit by ice on the interstate.
On January 30, State Police were called to I-81 North in Homer around 12:30 p.m. for an accident involving a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer.

Troopers say a slab of ice flew off the top of the semi and shattered the driver’s side windshield of the pickup behind it. The tractor-trailer did not stop.

The driver of the pickup, who is from Camden, NY, suffered injuries to the hands and face. He was checked out by medical professionals at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
New York State Police remind motorists to brush snow and ice off their vehicles.
