ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – The Museum of the Earth in Ithaca is marking 20 years since its opening.

The science museum and paleontological research institution is inviting the public to attend the anniversary celebration free of charge this weekend. In addition to viewing and learning about curated material, the event promises 20 activities appropriate for attendees of all ages.

Museum officials are looking for volunteers to help lead activities, including hands-on fossil stations. Volunteer shifts include 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The celebration happens this Saturday, September 30, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Museum of the Earth at the Paleontological Research Institution located at 1259 Trumansburg Road/Route 96.
