CAYUGA HEIGHTS, NY (607NewsNow) — Leaders in Cayuga Heights are reviewing plans for a residential project.
A townhouse development on East Upland Road is under consideration. The project involves constructing 10 townhouses; each would contain three bedrooms.
Cayuga Heights Planning Board Chair Fred Cowett said the proposed homes wouldn’t totally align with the neighborhood.
“It’s single-family houses, basically, along that strip of road,” he said. “Clearly, what is being proposed is not single-family houses, and there’s going to be a change in the land use.”
An existing row of trees would largely screen the development, though a driveway access road would have to be constructed.
Cayuga Heights Mayor Linda Woodard said developers should add walking paths on the site, and “basically make it into a park.” She said the village has little recreational space.
“We don’t have much park area,” she said. “We have Sunset Park, and we have a few little pockets here and there, but that’s all we have.”
The village is planning to hold a public hearing on the project in December.
