ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — New York wants more volunteer firefighters and EMTs. 

State lawmakers have authorized a 10% reduction in property taxes as an incentive, and the Tompkins County Legislature will vote this evening on scheduling a public hearing February 7. Volunteers have declined in numbers.
