ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — The Tompkins County Public Library has a new leader.
Kat Savage was appointed as interim director by the Board of Trustees starting today, Oct. 13. Savage has spent the last two years in charge of the library’s youth services department and chaired the Summer Reading Committee, which grew under her leadership in all age groups.
“My focus will be on supporting the amazing staff and, in turn, their tireless work in supporting our community,” Savage said. “In addition, I look forward to working with Finger Lakes Library System to ensure we are continuing to support access to books and digital materials to all 33 member libraries.”
According to the Tompkins County Public Library, “Savage will serve a maximum of three months in the role while the Library Director Search Committee conducts a thorough and professional search to bring the best candidates forward for consideration for the role of permanent Library Director.”
Savage succeeds former Tompkins County legislator Susan Currie, who was brought in following the resignation of former executive director Leslie Tabor in March.
“The Board would like to express sincere gratitude to Susan Currie for her willingness to step in, address community concerns, and to restore valued service,” the Board of Trustees said in a statement.
