ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Tompkins County Environmental Health is alerting the public to a positive rabies test in a stray kitten.
The animal was found at 902 West Seneca Street on July 14 and was tested on July 30 after exhibiting symptoms of the virus. The 3-month-old, black, short-haired kitten was uninjured and health officials believe it could have been infected by its mother or litter mates. The kitten also had white fur speckles in its coat and was a polydactyl with extra toes and large front feet.
Environmental Health is looking for anyone who may have had contact with a cat or kitten in the area of 902 West Seneca Street in the month of July.
