CORTLANDVILLE, N.Y. (WHCU) – Authorities in Cortland County have made an arrest in a stolen check investigation.

Deputies arrested 36-year-old Matthew Clark on Saturday, July 22, 2023, for his alleged role in a fraud that occurred on May 5, 2023, in Cortlandville. Clark is accused of conspiring with another person to cash a stolen and forged check at a local bank. Clark is charged with felony possession of a forged instrument and misdemeanors of possession of stolen property, petit larceny, and conspiracy. His alleged co-conspirator has not been arrested yet. Clark will appear in the Town of Cortlandville Court on August 2, 2023, at 11:30 a.m.
