ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – A construction project in Ithaca is set to close a road for a month.
Crews will begin work Tuesday to install new storm sewer pipes and repave the 400-500 blocks of Lake Street. Milling will close that section of the road to local traffic from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18. Residents will have access to their driveways after that. The 400-500 blocks, which run from East Falls Street to the city limits, will remain closed to thru traffic for the duration of the project.
For detours, the city recommends northbound traffic on Lake Street turn left onto East Falls Street, continue straight, then turn right onto North Cayuga Street. Southbound traffic on East Shore Drive should turn right onto North Cayuga Street, continue straight, then turn left on East Falls Street.
Officials expect the work will take four weeks, weather permitting.
