CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – A traffic stop leads to criminal charges in Cortland County.

On June 14, deputies pulled a car over on Church Street in the City of Cortland around 9:30 p.m. for failure to use a turning signal.

Jason Scutt, of Solon, allegedly had drugs on him at the time of arrest. According to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office, the 53-year-old concealed evidence and physically resisted while deputies took him into custody.

Scutt is charged with felony tampering with evidence, misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor resisting arrest, and misdemeanor obstruction of government administration. Jason Scutt is scheduled to appear in court on June 23.

Another man in the car, 27-year-old Jeremy Scutt, of Cortlandville, is charged with misdemeanor drug possession.  He is scheduled to appear in court on June 30.
