ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Ithaca’s Planning & Development Board is praising a project at Cornell.
The group is impressed by early sketches of a community center on University Avenue. The building would serve as a home for the Jewish student organization Grinspoon Hillel.
Emily Petrina, who chairs the Planning & Development Board, said the proposed building is beautiful.
“It’ll be such a special jewel as people enter uphill towards West Campus,” she said.
Board member Andy Rollman also spoke highly of the sketches. He said he’s “so excited” to see more renderings.
The building would have three stories plus a basement. A cafe, worship space, and recreation room are included in the floor plans.
Rabbi Ari Weiss, a Jewish educator at Cornell, said the building will be a place for students to connect and practice their faith.
