ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Tompkins County lawmakers are interested in expanding a medical response program.

Legislative Chair Dan Klein tells WHCU that since launching the program in the spring of 2024, it’s been successful.

Despite its implementation, Klein says a lack of ambulance and EMS services remains a critical issue in Tompkins County. He notes lawmakers are beginning to look at ways of expanding the rapid response program, which is currently funded through the remainder of 2025.

Klein says a proposal being considered is adding two ambulances to the county’s rapid response program.
