VARICK, NY (607NewsNow) – Authorities in Seneca County have determined that a fatal incident was intentional.

On May 25, deputies responded to the Town of Varick for a report that a car had driven into Cayuga Lake.

Investigators say the action was on purpose. A Seneca Fire rescue team attempted to reach the driver but was unsuccessful due to the depth and temperature of the water. Out of respect for family and friends, the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office will not be releasing the female victim’s name.
