ALBANY, NY (607NewsNow) — A local lawmaker is honoring a civil rights leader.

May 19 marked 100 years since the birth of Malcolm X. He died in 1965.

In a post on social media, Senator Lea Webb said Malcolm X remains inspirational.

“His legacy as a fearless advocate for justice, human rights, and Black empowerment continues to inspire generations,” she said.

During a press conference on May 20, Webb said Malcolm X was “unrelenting” in his support of education.
