ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Tompkins County is receiving more reports of gunfire.
For the fourth straight month, calls about shots fired are up. Dispatchers received 18 reports of shots last month. Compared to April – that’s a jump of nearly 29 percent.
The county and the City of Ithaca recently received a grant worth about $380,000 aimed at reducing gun crimes. Sheriff Derek Osborne spoke about that grant on Ithaca’s Morning News.
