ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Leaders in Tompkins County are reflecting on the Code Blue season.
Whenever temperatures fell below 32 degrees on winter nights, shelter was provided for the homeless. County Administrator Korsah Akumfi said feedback was good.
“I’ve heard a lot of praises from community organizations, from clients that were served in the facility,” he said.
The shelter, which was at the former Key Bank building in downtown Ithaca, closed in mid-April. The county is now searching for a new location for next winter.
“What we are doing right now is identifying sites,” Akumfi said. “We have had some good progress so far.”
He said the goal is to have Code Blue plans in place by the end of August.
