CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — The Cortland County Legislature is considering calling on the state government.

County lawmakers are looking at legislation that would encourage the enactment of the Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act. The resolution would also request printed paper to be part of the bill, because of its contributions to greenhouse gas emissions and municipal recycling costs. 

If approved, copies of the resolution would be sent to Governor Kathy Hochul and other state officials.

The legislature next meets on March 27.
