ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Legislators have agreed to probe the Tompkins County Public Library.

A forensic audit will be conducted. Legislator Amanda Champion said the goal is to gather deep details.

“We are hoping that we can dig into the finances of the public library and get a little bit more information about specific things,” she said.

Legislator Mike Lane agreed an audit is necessary.

“We’re not alleging anything bad has happened,” he said. “But we have a whole lot of questions about the budget itself, and we want to understand it better.”

All Tompkins County legislators voted in favor of conducting the audit. The probe will cost no more than $9,999.
