WASHINGTON, D.C. (WHCU) — Senator Kirsten Gillibrand says Republican leadership lacks accountability.

She believes party officials should hold Congressman George Santos responsible, after he was indicted on federal charges.

“I think the Republican leadership in the House is not creating any oversight or accountability,” she says. “But I believe the constitution allows him to continue to serve, and it’s just a shame that House Republican leadership isn’t willing to hold their own accountable.”

Santos is accused of fraud, money laundering, theft of public funds, and lying to Congress.
